Mother's Day Gifts

Now that Mother's Day is over, I can post pictures of some of the gifts sewn for Mother's Day. The first picture above is of a cover-up that one of my 12 yr old students made for her Mom. This was her first patterned piece and clothing piece. She did a very good job!

The second picture is of a set of placemats that I made for my Mother In-Law. They are very simple to make and would be easy enough for a beginner. I made them for her to use everyday so I did not put a lot of fancy details on it. I used cotton batting as the middle layer and the fabric I found at Hancocks.

So now that Mother's Day is over, I am moving on to my next set of projects which is curtains for my girls' rooms and some gifts for their preschool teachers. Believe it or not, I am actually talking to some of my students about Halloween and encouraging them to start thinking about and looking at what patterns are available. Summers go fast when our children are home and before we know it, they will be heading back and we will thrust into the fall/holiday season! Yikes! I would much rather think about things when I was not under so much pressure to get it done under the gun so I just starting to think about these things now.

Happy Sewing!
