This has been a fun summer full of meeting new students and finding new sewing projects. I hope to post some pictures over the next few days of new projects that students can work on in sewing lessons.
One of my younger students came to class one day with the idea of making a water bottle carrier. Her Mom had purchased a commercial pattern to use but when we started working through it, we soon realized that there had to be an easier way to make one! So I went searching and found this pattern on the Mad Quilter's blog. Here is the water bottle carrier we came up with:
It can be made any shape or size and her tutorial is very easy to follow. We did a couple of things differently. We used Insulbright on the inside to help keep our bottle cool and we sewed the bottom of the carrier differently. We also made our own straps instead of using webbing. Thank you Shayna for bringing this project to class and to the Mad Quilter for such a wonderful tutorial!
Another new beginner project for Adults and Teens is this shoulder bag from Sew Mama Sew. It is their April Bag and you can view the directions here. There are two sizes to make and it has been making them in different colors and patterns. This would be a great project for a beginner to try.
Well, school starts next week for us so hopefully I will be blogging more and sharing more pictures and projects now. I have more pictures to take of other new projects and I will be sure to post them soon!
