I wanted to highlight this adorable little project that some of my adult students have been making lately. I found an easy and very understandable set of directions at the Quilt Taffy Blog for these crayon rollups. With only one page of directions, you could whip up a bunch of these for your little one and all their friends in no time. You will only need some fabric, fusible interfacing and rick rack (optional).
Here is the one I made last week....as you can see, I just love cupcake fabric. After I put it all together and took the pictures, I realized that I really need to get some new crayons as those are just sad looking! I usually buy a bunch of boxes during the back to school sales in August and then use them in crayon rolls during the year as I give them away for gifts (put a crayon rollup in with some coloring books or sketch pads for younger children).
The only thing I did different was to topstitch the rick rack at the end instead of putting it inside of the seam as mentioned in the pattern. I am going to make my next rollup with the rick rack in the seam so only half of it peeks out as directed in the instructions.
Thank you to Quilt Taffy for the great tutorial.....I have added a link on the right sidebar so we can keep it handy!
