I have several new students beginning sewing lessons this fall and many of them do not own a sewing machine. In our first beginner sewing lesson together, we go over the different features to look for in a sewing machine that would be very user friendly for them. (You can see one of my past posts HERE which also outlines those features).
I have posted, on the right sidebar on my blog, a section called "Sewing Machines to Consider". These are machines that I have seen and used and are very familiar with them. These would all be good choices in buying a first sewing machine as you begin sewing.
As I was updating the links today, I noticed that the prices have been lowered on some. The Brother 60 stitch machine is at a good price already and then there is a $20 rebate and the Computerized Kenmore machine (which is the cousin machine to my Janome here) is also at a very low price. I just wanted to mention to anyone out there who may be looking for a machine that this seems to be a good time to pick one up.
If you have any questions in regards to them, please feel free to email me or leave a comment here.
